Organization: Escuela Especial San Francisco de Assiz (SFA)
Description:
SFA is a school providing educational development programs to children with learning and physical disabilities. The school was founded in October of 1979, and is incorporated with the Ministry of the Family. SFA currently shares a center with the Association of Families with Disabled Children (PIPITOS). Currently 107 students from low income families are enrolled. Due to the economic constraints of the families, it is very difficult for them to provide their children with medicine and transport to the school, as a result, regular attendance is a problem. The school has addressed this problem by acquiring a small bus to transport students from the isolated rural communities of la Concha, la Concepcion, la Conquista and San Jose de Masatepe.
